About The Original Artwork
"Let's Play" is the first artwork in Boffo's new series "Full Circle". This piece was created in two weeks and although a fairly small artwork, it is highly concentrated and saturated with details. As the obvious result in the artist's evolving practice and escalating obsession, this artwork - as its title tells us - presents itself as a very playful, lively and dynamic piece in which her life-long techniques come to meet in a one-in-all new dimension. With an outstanding level of detail, yet again, Boffo uses her intuitive mark-making technique both with pens and fine brushes as well as stippling (pointillism) to create depth, various and interesting textures, lighter and darker tones using nothing but ink as her medium. Under the artist's excellent command of her gestural language, Boffo allows us to savour all the beautiful juxtapositions and admire not only the pliability in the artist's technical skills, but the musicality and cheerfulness that transpire from this artwork. It is clear that Boffo had a joyful time whilst bringing this piece to life, allowing herself to be free in her gestures and composition. "Let's Play" plays a crucial part in the making of a new era in the artist's practice: it is the epicentre where styles from her Knowledge series, Evolution series and Compositions Series come to burst in what is a new exciting beginning and is going to be an extraordinary new series of works.
